Pre-Entry Reading & Writing
About this class
This is an English reading and writing course for speakers of other languages (ESOL) who have little or no literacy skills. The course aims to develop the reading and writing skills needed in everyday life. Open to any learner from Entry to Entry 3 level, learners will learn and practise basic reading and writing to help with everyday life. Learners will learn to read social signs and basic text. Learners will learn to write personal information and simple sentences and develop skills to help read new words. As well as learning the core vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking and listening skills, by working independently and in small groups with your tutor, you will also develop wider skills such as: ● Problem solving ● Team working ● Communication skills ● Study skills ● British Holidays How you will be taught, and your understanding checked: Your tutor will work with you to understand what your level of knowledge is before you start to ensure that you are working at the right level for your needs. They will agree a learning plan for you to work towards. The course will be a mixture of whole class teaching, independent activity and small group/pair work, all supported by your tutor. Your tutor will talk to you about your progress, and you will give you feedback to help you to continue to develop your skills and knowledge.
