Latest Migration Information

We support people arriving in the UK through different migration and resettlement routes, including individuals, families and wider communities. As circumstances and government guidance change, clear and up-to-date information can help people understand their options and find the right support.

This page brings together guidance, resources and support for people affected by current migration routes, humanitarian programmes and changes to UK immigration policy. Whether you are planning a move, have recently arrived, or are helping others settle into life in the UK, you will find information to help you take the next step.

We regularly review and update the information on this page to reflect new developments, helping individuals and communities access reliable guidance when they need it most.

Information on going to English classes for BN(O)s – Although generally BN(O) visa holders cannot access free English classes or other courses funded through the Adult Education Budget (AEB) for the first three years of their residence in the UK, many local authorities in Yorkshire and Humber are allowing Hong Kongers to join English classes run by their adult education teams. If you are a Hong Konger living in Doncaster, Kirklees, Leeds, North Yorkshire, Rotherham, Sheffield, York or Wakefield you can join AEB funded classes for free. This means that you can join most English classes at Colleges and Adult Education Centres in these areas for free.

Also, there are many other kinds of English classes open to Hong Kongers which are available in the community sector. To locate these classes, search for classes near to you using the postcode search and then contact specific groups to find out if Hong Kongers can join.

West Yorkshire Police have produced a Hate Crime Awareness Form in traditional Chinese. There is also a third party reporting service for Hong Kongers and other East and South East Asian Communities – On your side
