ESOL and mental health Calderdale
About this class
This course teaches you the basics of mental health. You will learn how to respond to crises and where to find local mental health services. The course also talks about different cultural views and stereotypes related to mental health.
You will also improve your English skills by working with the tutor and other students from different countries.
By the end, you will feel more confident in helping others and understanding mental health issues.
There are classes starting throughout the year.
No prior knowledge of Mental Health is required. The course is aimed at people who do not have English as a first language. You should have studied or be studying English at Entry 3 or Level 1.
If you are studying Entry 2, you need to talk with the course tutor. This conversation is to make sure you will understand the language used in the course.
All applicants will be required to attend an interview with the course tutor, to check this is the correct course for you.
After successfully completing this course, you can go on to study Level 1 Health, Social Care and Children and Young People, or Level 2 Adult Social Care at Calderdale College. This will be discussed with the Adult Progression Officer.
