ESOL Core Next Steps (Entry 1)
About this class
At this level, you’ll attend once a week to develop your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. You’ll become able to ask questions and follow simple instructions in English. This will help you with tasks such as making appointments or speaking to your child’s school. It will also prepare you for further study or work. At the end of your course, you’ll take an Entry 1 qualification in Speaking and Listening.While you are attending your Core Next Steps class, you can also attend the following to widen your skills.

- Each group runs for an hour each week to practice your speaking and listening skills.

- These courses run for one session each week at a level that’s right for you. At the end of your course, you will take a reading qualification.

- These courses run for one session each week at a level that’s right for you. At the end of your course, you will take a writing qualification.

- Identity and Belonging in the UK
- These courses help you to understand key aspects of British society and culture. They are good for people who are new to life in the UK

Improve your skills, get a qualification, or see how learning can improve your wellbeing. Whatever your reason for returning to learning, we can help. Our courses are all delivered in a supportive and friendly environment and cater for all levels from beginners through to advanced.
We offer free ESOL classes to learners who have been granted leave to remain or who are asylum seekers and have been in the country waiting for a decision at least six months.
Our core provision starts with a Welcome Course and is then levelled into Beginners, Next Steps, Moving On and Advanced.
